The name Wartrace evolved from Native Americans who used area trails as warpaths or war trails. In the early 1800's Andrew Jackson purchased a large tract of land from James Robertson that included the site of present-day Wartrace. In 1813 Old Hickory is said to have carved "this is War Trail Creek" into a beech tree near the stream that bears the name Wartrace Creek today.

Bedford County

Bedford County, Tennessee is located nearly sixty miles southeast of Nashville, in southern Middle Tennessee. The county is 475 square miles with majority of residents living in Shelbyville, which is also the county seat. Bedford County is home to popular historic towns of Bell Buckle, Wartrace and Normandy, too. All three have listings on the National Register of Historic Places.

Coffee County

Coffee County, Tennessee spans across 435 square miles and is located in south-central Tennessee. In just a little over an hour, residents can travel to one of three larger metropolitan areas: Nashville, Tennessee, Chattanooga, Tennessee or Huntsville, Alabama.

Marshall County, Tennessee was founded in 1836 and stretches 376 square miles. It is one of the fastest-growing counties in the state. One interesting fact is that Marshall County was supposed to be named Cannon County.
