Take a step back in time while enjoying a Southern family-style meal around a big table with guests from all over the world!
Miss Mary Bobo's Boarding House has served up tradition and Southern hospitality, not to mention good home cooking, since 1908. Located in the heart of Lynchburg, Tenn., just off the town square, it's recognized as one of the South's signature family-style dining restaurants.
It possesses a history almost as rich as Miss Mary's Fudge Pie and was built before Lynchburg became home to Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey. Miss Mary Bobo's began back in 1908 when a young Miss Mary assumed ownership of the historic Salmon Hotel. The original structure was raised in the 1820s as a traveler's hotel and was built over a natural spring. Miss Mary ran the boarding house until her death in 1983, just one month shy of her 102nd birthday. The Boarding House no longer boards guests, but continues Miss Mary's tradition of serving guests from all over the world a midday family-style dinner.
For just about as long whiskey's been made in Lynchburg, Miss Mary Bobo's Restaurant has been cooking up mouth-watering Southern dishes for all who pass through.
Your visit to Lynchburg wouldn't be complete without dropping by Miss Bobo's where every meal is served with a warm Tennessee welcome and a glass of sweet tea (other options available).
We have several dining rooms featuring family-style seating that offer plenty of room to relax and enjoy lunch. You may even run into some of the folks from the Distillery while you're there.
Meals are served in 9 separate dining rooms that are located on 3 levels of the house. Each table seats 9-13 guests depending on table size Local hosts sit at each table and tell the rich history of Miss Mary Bobo's and Lynchburg to guests sitting around the table from all over the world. You enter as strangers and leave as friends!
